Sentencing Delay OKd in Haidl Sex Assault Case

Share

An Orange County judge Tuesday agreed to postpone the Jan. 20 sentencing of three young men convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious teenage girl three years ago and videotaping the attack.

Superior Court Judge Francisco P. Briseno said he doubted that required psychological evaluations would be available by that date for Gregory Haidl, the 20-year-old son of a former assistant sheriff, and co-defendants Kyle Nachreiner and Keith Spann, both 21.

The three were convicted last year on several sexual assault charges involving the victim, who was 16 at the time of the attack. Haidl faces up to 18 years in prison; Nachreiner, 14 years; and Spann, 16 years.
