Michigan State Rebounds

Maurice Ager scored 28 points and Paul Davis had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead No. 14 Michigan State to its first Big Ten Conference win, 87-73 over No. 9 Indiana on Wednesday night at East Lansing, Mich.

The Spartans (13-4, 1-2) bounced back from two straight double-digit losses because Ager and Davis were tough to stop after struggling in those setbacks. Ager and Davis combined for 34 points in the games at No. 7 Illinois and No. 21 Wisconsin.

Marco Killingsworth had 27 points and Robert Vaden had 20 for the Hoosiers (10-3, 2-1), who had won six straight games and reached their highest ranking since Dec. 16, 2002.

Michigan State went ahead for good midway through the first half and pulled away with a 10-0 run, taking a 76-60 lead with 3:34 left.

Matt Trannon scored a career-high 11 points, helping the Spartans beat the Hoosiers for the 12th straight time at home.

Indiana was without standout forward D.J. White, who injured his left foot in the previous game after breaking it earlier this season.

The Hoosiers shot 54.7%, ending a 30-game winning streak when making at least half of their shots, dating to a Jan. 19, 2002, game at Ohio State.

Michigan State connected on 58.8% of its shots and outrebounded Indiana, 29-18.

No. 1 Duke 76, No. 23 Maryland 52 -- Shelden Williams got his first career triple-double and J.J. Redick scored 27 points in an Atlantic Coast Conference game at Durham, N.C., to help the Blue Devils (15-0, 3-0) end a three-game losing streak to the Terrapins (11-4, 1-2).

Williams had 19 points, 11 rebounds and a career-high 10 blocks.

No. 2 Florida 75, Mississippi State 60 -- Taurean Green scored 20 points, including two three-pointers with the shot clock winding down in the closing minutes to lead the Gators (15-0, 2-0) over the Bulldogs (11-4, 1-1) in a Southeastern Conference game at Gainesville, Fla.

No. 3 Villanova 84, Rutgers 78 -- Kyle Lowry scored a career-high 28 points and Randy Foye had 24 as the Wildcats (11-1, 2-1) rebounded from their first loss of the season to defeat the Scarlet Knights (11-4, 1-1) in overtime in a Big East Conference game at Piscataway, N.J.

No. 5 Memphis 77, East Carolina 67 -- Rodney Carney made six three-pointers and scored 27 points to lead the Tigers (14-2) over the Pirates (6-8) in a Conference USA opener at Greenville, S.C.

No. 16 West Virginia 68, Georgetown 61 -- Kevin Pittsnogle scored 23 points and the Mountaineers (11-3, 3-0) rallied from an 11-point first-half deficit to defeat the Hoyas (10-3, 2-1) in a Big East game at Morgantown, W.Va.

No. 17 George Washington 69, St. Louis 64 -- Danilo Pinnock had 19 points, seven in overtime, and 12 rebounds to lead the Colonials (11-1, 2-0) over the Billikens (7-7, 1-1) in an Atlantic 10 Conference game at Washington.

No. 19 Ohio State 80, Purdue 64 -- J.J. Sullinger scored 17 points and Je’Kel Foster tied his career high with six steals to lead the Buckeyes (12-1, 2-1) over the Boilermakers (6-8, 0-3) in a Big Ten game at West Lafayette, Ind.

San Diego State 72, Utah 67 -- Brandon Heath scored 21 points to lead the Aztecs (9-6, 2-1) over the Utes (8-6, 1-2) in a Mountain West Conference game at Salt Lake City for their first road win against Utah since 1982.

Clemson 74, Wake Forest 73 -- Vernon Hamilton had a career-high 21 points, including four in overtime, as the Tigers (13-3, 2-1) ended a five-game losing streak to the Demon Deacons (11-4, 0-2) in an ACC game at Clemson, S.C.

Syracuse 88, Notre Dame 82 -- Gerry McNamara scored 25 points, including seven three-pointers, to lead the Orange (14-2, 2-0) over the Fighting Irish (9-5, 0-3) in a Big East game at South Bend, Ind.

Oklahoma State 79, Texas A&M; 77 -- Freshman Terrel Harris scored a career-high 21 points and had the tiebreaking three-point play to lift the Cowboys (11-5, 1-1) over the Aggies (11-2, 1-1) in a Big 12 Conference game at Stillwater, Okla.
