A Future Mayor Is Born in Montebello
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was born Antonio Villar in Montebello 53 years ago today. He rose from high school dropout to become speaker of the California Assembly, then Los Angeles’ first Latino mayor in more than a century. When he married Corina Raigosa in 1987, he combined his surname with that of his wife.
