Texas 15, at Baltimore 1: Mark Teixeira hit a career-high three homers and drove in seven runs to lead the Rangers. “I don’t know if I’d call it a breakout performance, but it’s nice to have a good game here in Baltimore,” said Teixeira, who was born and raised in Maryland.

at Detroit 6, Kansas City 4: The Tigers used a five-run fifth inning to rally past the Royals. Jeremy Bonderman struggled to get his ninth win for the Tigers, who have baseball’s best record at 60-29. “I knew that if I kept it close ... I knew the team wasn’t going to go away and would fight,” Bonderman said.

Cleveland 6, at Minnesota 4: Casey Blake, Jhonny Peralta and Travis Hafner homered off Francisco Liriano, the league’s earned-run average leader at 1.83 coming in. Liriano lost for the first time in seven starts, yielding one-fourth of the 12 home runs he has given up in his 117-inning career.

Around the league: Oakland A’s slugger Frank Thomas has sued two Chicago White Sox doctors, claiming their misdiagnosis of his broken left foot in 2004 led to further injury and his eventual departure from the team. His attorney said the doctors misdiagnosed a fractured bone as a bruise and cleared him to continue playing, which led to a second broken bone.... Right-hander Sidney Ponson is expected to sign with the New York Yankees today.
