Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger did not have a valid motorcycle license when he crashed into a woman’s car last week, and the driver -- who will be cited for failing to yield -- has received threatening phone calls.

Roethlisberger will be issued $388 in fines and fees for riding without a license and not wearing a helmet, police collision investigator Dan Connolly said Monday. Only licensed motorcyclists are allowed to ride without a helmet in Pennsylvania, with certain restrictions.

The woman, who will be cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic and fined $106.50, has received threatening phone calls since the accident, police Chief Dominic Costa said. She filed a police report and the calls were being investigated.

Steelers receiver Santonio Holmes pleaded not guilty to charges of assaulting a woman, his second arrest since he was chosen in the first round of the NFL draft.

The 22-year-old former Ohio State standout was arrested at an apartment in Columbus, Ohio, and charged with domestic violence and simple assault, both misdemeanors, Sgt. Loucious Hollis said. Holmes was released from the Franklin County jail on his own recognizance after a brief court appearance. No trial date has been set.

Holmes, a native of Belle Glade, Fla., was arrested previously in Miami Beach, Fla., and charged with disorderly conduct during Memorial Day weekend.

WADA cited a “lack of professionalism” and a “distinct lack of impartiality in conducting a full review of all the facts” in Monday’s statement, which comes several days after Armstrong had written the International Olympic Committee calling for the head of WADA, Dick Pound, to resign. Pound says he is not leaving his position.

Despite a dramatic conclusion that included fan favorite Phil Mickelson’s collapse on the final hole, early indications are the television audience for the final round of the U.S. Open was less than it was a year ago, when Tiger Woods battled eventual winner Michael Campbell down the stretch. The overnight rating for the final round was a 5.1 with a 12 share, down from last year’s overnight of 5.8 rating and 14 share.
