Neighbor Saves Woman in Burning Apartment
A 20-year-old woman was rescued Sunday from her smoke-filled, burning apartment after her screams for help woke a neighbor who pulled her through a window to safety, officials said.
The fire occurred about 4 a.m. in a two-story, 10-apartment complex in the 200 block of Lower Cliff Drive, said Battalion Chief Tom Christopher of the Laguna Beach Fire Department.
Possibly sparked by a candle, the fire caused $20,000 in damage to the unidentified woman’s apartment. No other units were affected. The woman suffered severe burns and was on a ventilator at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana.
