Jim Bowden, general manager of the Washington Nationals, pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol after allegedly running a stop sign in Miami Beach.

Bowden entered the written plea before a hearing Monday, according to court records. Neither Bowden nor his attorney appeared at the hearing.

Bowden, 44, was charged with DUI after failing a field sobriety test in the early hours of April 17, according to a police report. Bowden refused to take a breath-alcohol test.

Browning’s arraignment was postponed from Monday until May 17. She remains free on $5,000 bail.

Tom Glavine and the New York Mets have restructured his contract, delaying some payments and adding an option for 2007.

Glavine had been due to make $10.5 million this year, of which $5.25 million was to be deferred at 6% interest.

Under the new deal, the 40-year-old left-hander’s salary this year is reduced to $7.5 million, of which $2.25 million is payable during the season, with the rest deferred at 6%.

The new contract contains a 2007 player option at $5.5 million and a $12-million team option, both with a $3-million buyout.
