Sales Brisk for Clippers

Share

Clipper Nation is a T-shirt, a banner, a coffee mug and a cap. Lots of them, actually.

Sales of Clippers merchandise increased by 40% during the NBA regular season and soared by 100% during the team’s first postseason run in two decades.

The rise in demand for Clippers merchandise mirrors the retail fortunes of most franchises making their first postseason appearance in a number of years, said Christopher Arena, the NBA’s vice president of apparel and sporting goods.

Elton Brand’s was the hottest Clippers jersey during regular- and postseason play, according to Sean Ryan, vice president of merchandising for AEG, which owns Staples Center and runs the arena’s souvenir shops.

Demand for Sam Cassell and Chris Kaman jerseys also heated up during the playoff series against the Denver Nuggets and Phoenix Suns.
