Pittsburgh Runs Past Central Florida

LaRod Stephens-Howling ran for 135 yards and three touchdowns to help Pittsburgh rout Central Florida, 52-7, on Friday night at Orlando, Fla.

It was the Panthers’ fourth straight win, and their 6-1 start is the school’s best since a Dan Marino-led team opened 7-0 in 1982.

Pittsburgh led from the opening kickoff, which Lowell Robinson returned 97 yards for a touchdown. The Panthers had been averaging 35.7 points, 11th-best in the country.

The Panthers’ Tyler Palko, who entered the game with a 191.32 efficiency rating (second-best in NCAA Division I), completed 11 of 15 passes for 172 yards and two touchdowns.

The Knights (2-4) fell to 0-8 against Big East teams.

An early fall snowstorm has forced Buffalo to postpone today’s home game against Miami of Ohio.

Bulls spokesman Jon Fuller said the school is assessing whether the game can be pushed back to Sunday, but a decision won’t be made until today.
