at Baylor 36, Kansas 35: Shawn Bell threw for a school-record 394 yards, with three of his five touchdown passes coming in the last 9:22 to rally the Bears (4-4, 3-1) over the Jayhawks (3-5, 0-4) at Waco, Texas.

Texas Tech 42, at Iowa State 26: Graham Harrell threw for 368 yards and a career-high six touchdowns to lead the Red Raiders (5-3, 2-2) over the Cyclones (3-5, 0-4) at Ames and end a two-game losing streak.

No. 22 Boston College 24, at Florida State 19: DeJuan Tribble’s 36-yard interception return for a touchdown capped a 21-point second quarter, and the Eagles (6-1, 3-1) held off the Seminoles (4-3, 2-3) at Tallahassee. Larry Anam intercepted a desperation throw by Florida State’s Drew Weatherford in the end zone on the game’s final play. Defending champion Florida State is in last place in the Atlantic Division.

at Maryland 26, North Carolina St. 20: The Terrapins (5-2, 2-1) converted two consecutive turnovers into 14 third-quarter points, leading to a victory over the Wolfpack (3-4, 2-2) at College Park. N.C. State used a long drive and a 65-yard punt return by Darrell Blackman to close to 23-13 with 8:18 left, but the comeback bid was blunted when Daniel Evans threw his second interception.

Miami 20, at Duke 15: Willie Cooper intercepted Thad Lewis’ pass at the goal line as time expired, and the short-handed Hurricanes (5-2, 2-1) held off the upset-minded Blue Devils (0-7, 0-5) at Durham, N.C., in their first game since the previous week’s ugly on-field fight with Florida International.

at Virginia Tech 36, Southern Mississippi 6: Branden Ore rushed for a career-high 207 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Hokies (5-2) over the Golden Eagles (4-3) at Blacksburg. Virginia Tech had 284 yards rushing to 82 for Southern Mississippi, and 398 total yards to 216.

No. 19 Rutgers 20, at Pittsburgh 10: Ray Rice rushed for 225 yards in 39 carries as the Scarlet Knights (7-0, 2-0) passed their first big test of the season by defeating the Panthers (6-2, 2-1). Michigan St. 41, at Northwestern 38: Brett Swenson kicked a 28-yard field goal with 13 seconds left to lift the Spartans (4-4, 1-3) over the Wildcats (2-6, 0-4) at Evanston, Ill., completing the biggest comeback in NCAA Division I-A history. The Spartans trailed 38-3 with 9:54 left in the third quarter.

at Penn State 26, Illinois 12: Anthony Scirrotto had two interceptions and returned an onside kick for a touchdown and the Nittany Lions (5-3, 3-2) beat the Illini (2-6, 1-3) at State College.

at No. 14 Louisiana State 38, Fresno State 6: Dwayne Bowe caught a 58-yard touchdown pass to tie the school record for career scoring catches, and the Tigers (6-2) routed the Bulldogs (1-6) at Baton Rouge. The senior receiver has 21 touchdown catches in his career. Craig “Buster” Davis returned a punt 77 yards for a score and later caught a 30-yard touchdown pass for LSU.

at No. 15 Arkansas 38, Mississippi 3: Felix Jones returned the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, and the Razorbacks (6-1, 4-0) defeated the Rebels (2-6, 1-4) at Fayetteville to remain the only team with a perfect SEC record. Arkansas scored on its first offensive possession against Mississippi to lead 14-0.

at Georgia 27, Mississippi State 24: Charles Johnson forced a fumble and recovered it with three seconds left to preserve a win for Georgia (6-2, 3-2) over Mississippi State (2-6, 0-4) at Athens. Georgia overcame five turnovers to end a two-game skid.

South Carolina 31, at Vanderbilt 13: Syvelle Newton threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third score, and the Gamecocks (5-2, 3-2) defeated the Commodores (3-4, 1-4) at Nashville to keep Coach Steve Spurrier undefeated against the school. Spurrier has won all 14 games he has coached against Vanderbilt while at Duke, Florida and now South Carolina.
