at No. 1 Ohio State 44, Minnesota 0: Quarterback Troy Smith passed for a touchdown and ran for another, and Antonio Pittman had two rushing touchdowns to lead the Buckeyes (9-0, 5-0) over the Gophers (3-6, 0-5) at Columbus. Ohio State has won all of its games by at least 17 points.

at No. 2 Michigan 17, Northwestern 3: Mike Hart ran for 95 yards and a touchdown to help the Wolverines (9-0, 6-0) pound out a rain-soaked win over the Wildcats (2-7, 0-5) at Ann Arbor. Michigan cornerback Leon Hall had a fumble recovery and an interception that set up Hart’s touchdown.

at No. 17 Wisconsin 30, Illinois 24: The Badgers (8-1, 5-1) scored 20 straight points in the second half and played much of the way without injured running back P.J. Hill in defeating the Illini (2-7, 1-4) at Madison.

Penn State 12, at Purdue 0: Tony Hunt ran for 142 yards, and the Nittany Lions (6-3, 4-2) earned their first shutout in four years in defeating the Boilermakers (5-4, 2-3) at West Lafayette, Ind. Purdue had not been shut out in 127 games.

at Indiana 46, Michigan State 21: Kellen Lewis threw five touchdown passes, including a school-record four to James Hardy, in leading the Hoosiers (5-4, 3-2) over the Spartans (4-5, 1-4) at Bloomington. Hardy had touchdown catches of two, 17, 30 and 13 yards.

at Iowa 24, Northern Illinois 14: Redshirt freshman Jake Christensen threw for 256 yards and two touchdowns in his first start, and the Hawkeyes (6-3) held off the Huskies (5-4) at Iowa City. Iowa held Garrett Wolfe, the nation’s leading rusher, to 66 yards in 22 carries.
