Brush Fire Diverts Interstate 15 Traffic
A wildfire intermittently shut down the northbound side of Interstate 15 in the Cajon Pass on Tuesday as it burned at least 100 acres of grass and low brush on the east side of the freeway.
U.S. Forest Service officials were still investigating the cause of the fire, which ignited near the Kenwood Avenue off-ramp near Devore just after 4 p.m. and was heading north Tuesday evening.
Traffic was diverted from the freeway around the fire. Just as officials began opening two northbound lanes about 5:30 p.m., a motor home caught fire in one of the lanes, leading to another hourlong closure.
About 250 firefighters and four aircraft fought the wildfire.
