Police Car Hits Vehicle in Intersection; 3 Hurt
Two people were seriously injured early Sunday when the car they were in was struck by a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car, authorities said.
The collision occurred just after midnight as the police car swerved to avoid another vehicle that had come to a sudden stop at Imperial Highway and Success Avenue, police said.
The police car struck a Toyota Corolla that also was in the intersection. The driver, a 40-year-old woman, was taken to a hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Her passenger, a 46-year-old man, also was hospitalized in stable condition. The officer suffered a leg injury and was in stable condition.
Police declined to identify the injured motorists or the officer.
