Atlanta clinches division title

Ilya Kovalchuk, Pascal Dupuis and Marian Hossa scored to lead the Atlanta Thrashers past the Carolina Hurricanes, 4-1, on Friday night at Raleigh, N.C., for their first division title.

Johan Hedberg finished with 32 saves for the Thrashers, who clinched the Southeast Division when Tampa Bay lost at home to Florida.

Florida 7, Tampa Bay 2 -- The Panthers chased Lightning goalie Johan Holmqvist with four goals in their first 12 shots. Nathan Horton opened the scoring with his career-high 31st goal.

The Detroit Red Wings signed center Pavel Datsyuk, their leading scorer with 87 points, to a seven-year contract.
