Seattle 9, at Texas 4: Ichiro Suzuki hit a three-run double and the Mariners also got homers from Jose Guillen and Jose Vidro during a seven-run sixth inning. Jeff Weaver (6-10) won his fourth consecutive start in August for the Mariners, who are 18-7 since a seven-game losing streak last month. Seattle has a two-game lead over the New York Yankees in the American League wild-card standings. The Rangers led, 3-1, after a pair of two-out homers: Brad Wilkerson’s two-run drive in the third and a solo shot by Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the fourth. Wilkerson had four hits.

Minnesota 5, at Baltimore 2: Boof Bonser pitched seven innings of three-hit ball to earn his first victory since June 10 and the Twins took advantage of shoddy fielding by Baltimore. Steve Trachsel (6-8) took a three-hitter and a 1-0 lead into the eighth inning, but Minnesota capitalized on three walks and two errors to score four runs. Miguel Tejada and Aubrey Huff homered for the Orioles, who have lost three in a row -- all since the team announced that Manager Dave Trembley would return next season.

Oakland 12, at Tampa Bay 2: Mike Piazza hit his 424th homer and drove in a season-best five runs to power the surging Athletics past the Devils Rays for their fifth victory in a row. Piazza finished with four hits. He connected for a two-run shot -- his fifth of the year -- off Brian Stokes to extend the lead to 10-1 in the sixth. Chad Gaudin (10-9) gave up one run over seven innings and set a career high with 10 strikeouts.

Cleveland 3, at Detroit 1: Rafael Perez (1-1) got the win, his first in the majors. He struck out the only batter he faced, fanning Curtis Granderson after the Tigers put two on with two outs in the ninth against Rafael Betancourt.

Boston at Chicago, rain: The game was rescheduled as part of a day-night doubleheader today.

Toronto 5, at Angels 4: Jesse Litsch scattered six hits and pitched into the seventh inning.
