Man pleads not guilty in Anaheim Hills killings
A 22-year-old Concordia University student pleaded not guilty Friday to charges that he killed two members of an Anaheim Hills family in May and severely beat a third.
Charles Anthony Murphy Jr. of Mission Hills could face the death penalty or life in prison without parole if convicted, officials said.
He is being held at Orange County Jail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled Sept. 26 in Orange County Superior Court.
Two other men also have pleaded not guilty in connection with the slayings of Jayprakash Dhanak, 56, and his daughter Karishma, 20.
His wife, Leela Dhanak, 53, was severely beaten, and the family’s home was burned.
