Striking out on a first date
Please tell me Cindy Bertram’s column [“They’re Just Not Ready for the Big Leagues,” Tell, Aug. 23] is fiction. She didn’t really reject a guy because he asked how long the game would run or because he was hoping for different food to buy? What in the world will she do if she ever has children and, horror of horrors, they don’t give a fig about baseball?

It seems to me there is hardly a venue better suited for a guy to pass the first-date-test than a baseball game. My friends and I thought it would be harder to find a guy that would fail this test than it would be to find one that passes. The only X-factor we could identify was the places you are finding your dates.
