Fire watch issued for mountain areas
It will be hot and windy again Tuesday, prime conditions for wildfires, according to the National Weather Service.
The agency has issued a fire watch in the area mountains, including the Santa Monica mountains above Malibu, where highs are expected to be in the high 70s to mid-80s.
Contributing to the risk of fire will be low humidity of 8% to 15%, said meteorologist Joe Sirard.
Winds are expected to reach 15-20 mph, with gusts of up to 40 mph.
“It’s going to be a very warm day and, of course, very, very dry fuels -- that is prompting the weather watch,” Sirard said.
