‘Bella’ gets caught in abortion crossfire

Share

AS a staunchly pro-choice moviegoer, I’d have felt manipulated if I thought the lovely film “Bella” was preaching an anti-choice message [“Adopting a Cause,” by Robert W. Welkos, Dec. 4]. But, having seen the film, I don’t believe it is.

The fact that anti-choice groups are trying to exploit the movie shows how profoundly they fail to understand the concept of choice. The young woman in “Bella” makes a choice to have a baby adopted by someone she knows and trusts. There is nothing that suggests adoption is the only appropriate choice or that the choice of abortion should be taken from her -- the position of anti-choice groups.
