Gangs served with injunction notices

Share

Police fanned out across two Harbor Gateway neighborhoods Saturday morning, serving proposed injunction notices to 26 members of two Latino gangs.

The 204th Street and East Side Torrance gangs claim territory in the city strip connecting South Los Angeles with Wilmington and San Pedro.

If a judge grants the injunction, the gang members will be prohibited from associating with one another in public in Harbor Gateway, as well as intimidating people there.

Those who violated the injunction would face up to a year in jail, said Bruce Riordan, head of gang prosecutions for the Los Angeles city attorney’s office

Police said the gangs have feuded with each other for years. Both are also known to attack black people in the areas they claim as their territories.

A Superior Court hearing on the injunction is scheduled for Friday.
