BAR FLY Friday night I meet my 21-year-old son, Ryan, at whatever hip bar he tells me to. Last week it was the Well in Hollywood. I get there at 9 p.m. and the place is empty. I call Ryan, who tells me things don’t get going until 11 p.m. I tell him I’ll see him tomorrow at breakfast and head to Pimai, a Thai restaurant near my house in Bronson Canyon. I sit at the bar watching “SportsCenter” and all the takeout orders. I try to see if there are any for single women. Don’t get me wrong -- I don’t actually follow the delivery guys. DOWNTOWN SLEUTHING Saturday morning Ryan and I head to the Hollywood YMCA for a pickup basketball game. Afterward, I grab the Red Line and train it down to Union Station, where I meet my website staff at the restaurant Traxx to enjoy their crab cakes. We watch the travelers coming and going, and sometimes I’ll get them to tell me their true stories. THERE’S THE RUB By now the pain is setting in from the pickup game, so I call my favorite masseuse to the stars, Cinthia Dahl. Saturday night I like to check out small theaters around the city. I recently saw the terrific “Havana Bourgeois” at the Hayworth Theatre. GRILL MASTER Sunday morning I like to walk up Bronson Canyon, maybe visit the Bat Caves (site of filming for the original Batman TV series). Then I head to the Mulholland Tennis Club, play a little tennis (praying I don’t injure something) and settle in for the best Chinese chicken salad in town. For dinner I used to go to La Loggia, my favorite Italian place, but I always ran into my ex-girlfriend and her husband. So now I take dates to this great Japanese barbecue place, Gyu-Kaku in Sherman Oaks. You grill your food at your table. I have to warn her this is the only cooking I do.
