Late-night TV: ABC confirmed Tuesday that “Jimmy Kimmel Live” would return to the air Jan. 2, the same day that Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien plan to start up their late-night shows on NBC again. They all shut down when the Writers Guild of America went on strike Nov. 5 but decided to resume production to keep the rest of their staff members employed.

Cast change: Fresh from a turn on Broadway in “The Drowsy Chaperone,” JoAnne Worley will join the cast of “Wicked” at the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood Jan. 9, replacing Carol Kane in the role of Madame Morrible.
