NONCONFERENCE

Pepperdine (5-8) at Manhattan (6-4), 4 p.m. -- The Waves have lost four of their last five games as they enter their last game of 2007. They have gone into an offensive drought, failing to score 70 points in three of their last four. They are shooting 28.9% from three-point range. The Jaspers, who have won three of their last four, defeated Pepperdine, 89-87, at Malibu last season.

WOMEN

NONCONFERENCE

UC Riverside (2-7) at UCLA (4-6), 2 p.m. -- The Bruins took some small steps forward in their 82-70 loss Wednesday to No. 1 Tennessee. Darxia Morris, one of six freshmen who played, totaled 12 points, four assists and three steals, and sophomore center Moniquee Alexander had a career-high 11 points. UC Riverside, the defending Big West Conference champion, will be without last season’s conference player of the year, senior forward Kemie Nkele, who injured her ankle Sunday in a 62-49 loss to Kansas.

USC (6-4) vs. Portland State (9-1), 7 p.m. -- The title game of the Women of Troy Basketball Classic pits two easy first-round winners. Five Trojans, including Camille LeNoir with 18 points, scored in double figures in a 78-45 rout of Grambling State. Heather Oliver has scored in double digits in her three games as a starter. It was the Trojans’ fourth consecutive victory at home. Portland State, which won nine in a row to open the season, is coming off a 78-72 victory over Hawaii.
