Gonzaga is upset by Loyola

Adoyah Miller and John Montgomery made seven of eight free throws in the final 30 seconds as Loyola Marymount held on to upset Gonzaga, 67-61, on Monday night at Los Angeles.

Miller led the Lions, 11-14 overall and 3-6 in the West Coast Conference, with 21 points; Montgomery finished with 12 points.

The Lions’ defense, led by Montgomery, Damian Martin and John Ziri, held Gonzaga to two baskets in the final 5:50 of the game. The Lions out-rebounded the Bulldogs, 35-31, and shot 44.2% for the game, which featured 17 lead changes. Neither team led by more than six points.

Gonzaga (17-8, 7-2) dropped to 8-8 on the road this season, and the loss leaves it tied for first in the conference with Santa Clara.

Portland 87, Pepperdine 76 -- Jamie Jones had 20 points and 13 rebounds as Portland (7-18, 3-6) ended a six-game losing streak with the win at Malibu.

Jarrad Henry set a school record -- and a West Coast Conference record -- with 11 blocked shots for Pepperdine (6-19, 2-7).
