Keith Primeau moved his former teammates and the fans in Philadelphia with an emotional pregame speech. Then Peter Forsberg showed why he’s so coveted around the league.

And with the sellout crowd rocking for the Flyers and screaming derogatory chants at the Detroit Red Wings, and goals scoring at a rapid rate, it all felt like old times in Philadelphia.

Forsberg scored the go-ahead goal in the third period and sparked the Flyers, who have the league’s worst record, to a 6-1 victory Monday night.

“We know where we are in the standings, we’re not feeling good about the season, but lately we’ve been playing better and with more confidence,” Forsberg said.

The Flyers scored two short-handed goals and a power-play goal to win their second in a row at home after losing a team-record 13 straight at home.

This time they had some inspiration from their former captain, Primeau, who was forced to retire from the effects of several concussions.
