Conveyor’s Angel, disqualified out of a win at nearly 49-1 in the $80,400 Tuzla on Jan. 24, got the job done Monday without any mistakes in the more lucrative Buena Vista Handicap at Santa Anita.

Bettors who kept the faith in the 5-year-old Conveyor mare were rewarded handsomely when she out-finished Singalong and seven others in a Grade II worth $150,000.

In helping jockey Saul Arias to his first win in a stakes race, Conveyor’s Angel paid $46.40 as the second-longest shot in the field.

Owned by Charles Cono LLC and trained by Chris Paasch, Conveyor’s Angel ran the mile in 1:35.77 over a turf course moistened by overnight rain. The win by a head was her fifth in 24 starts.

“It feels great,” said Arias, who also rode Conveyor’s Angel in the disqualification and placed seventh when the stewards ruled that she’d drifted in and caused interference in the stretch. “I’m going to celebrate with my family and everybody at Mr. Paasch’s barn.”

Attima, the 5-2 second choice, finished third, one length behind Singalong. Mea Domina, the 2-1 favorite, faded to fourth after setting the early pace. The loss was the first in five starts over the Santa Anita grass for Mea Domina.

Teuflesberg, a 23-1 shot racing without blinkers for the first time, led throughout and won the $250,000 Southwest at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs, Ark.

Teuflesberg won for the fourth time in 13 starts.

He is a son of Johannesburg, trained by Jamie Sanders, a former longtime exercise rider for Hall of Fame trainer Nick Zito who owns the colt in partnership with Gary Logsdon and Donnie Kelly.

Ridden by Stewart Elliott, Teuflesberg ran the mile in 1:38.20.

Officer Rocket, a 12-1 shot, was second and 8-1 outsider Forty Grams was third.

Hard Spun, the 1-2 favorite who had won his first four starts by a combined 28 lengths, finished fourth, three lengths behind the winner.

A Pennsylvania-bred, Hard Spun had won the Lecomte at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans in his previous start, a race in which Teuflesberg finished third, defeated by almost nine lengths.

Silver Wagon, the 9-10 favorite, finished strong, once he got into the clear in the stretch, and won the $285,000 General George Breeders’ Cup Handicap at Laurel.

Trained by Anthony Dutrow for Buckram Oak Farm, Silver Wagon, a 6-year-old Wagon Limit horse, ran the seven furlongs in the Grade II in 1:23.13.

The win was the sixth in 23 starts for Silver Wagon, who was ridden by Edgar Prado.

Ah Day finished second and Ryan’s for Real was third.
