Livingston suffers sprained right ankle

Point guard Shaun Livingston suffered a sprained right ankle in the second quarter and played only briefly in the second half of a 108-93 loss to the Golden State Warriors on Monday afternoon at Oracle Arena.

The injury occurred when another player fell on Livingston’s leg.

“I don’t know how bad it is right now,” Livingston said. “We’ll see.”

Livingston had 10 points and five assists in 23 minutes. He is listed as day to day.

Poor interior defense has been among the Clippers’ biggest problems this season, and the Warriors capitalized Monday.

Guards Baron Davis and Monta Ellis often got into the lane, speeding past Clippers defenders for layups and short jump shots.

Davis had 19 points and a game-high 13 assists. Ellis scored 24 points.

“The game plan was to play up tempo,” Davis said. “Monta Ellis got us going early ... got us some easy buckets. We just wanted to penetrate. That’s what we talked about.”

Their plan seemed to work well.

“I thought they made a couple of big hustle plays and made some huge shots,” Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy said. “It snowballed from there.”

The Warriors went 12 for 12 from the free-throw line while outscoring the Clippers, 27-14, in the fourth quarter.

“The key for us was that we made our free throws in the fourth quarter,” said Warriors Coach Don Nelson, whose team was 25 for 37 from the line overall.

Tim Thomas was sidelined because of an ear infection and remained at the team hotel to rest, Dunleavy said. “He was in a lot of pain,” Dunleavy said.

Cuttino Mobley suffered a cut above his left eyebrow in a collision with Warriors forward Troy Murphy in the third quarter. Mobley, who scored 10 points, might need stitches, team trainer Jasen Powell said. ... Quinton Ross scored 16 points, a regular-season career high.
