Coach Avery Johnson was so upset with the Dallas Mavericks’ previous performance that he said he burned the film.

Johnson was much happier with his team’s effort Saturday night at Dallas.

Dirk Nowitzki had 32 points and 11 rebounds for his eighth consecutive double-double, and the Mavericks rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat the Sacramento Kings, 106-104. They have won 22 of their last 24.

“This was a gutsy performance,” Johnson said. “It really showed me what these men are made of.”

The Mavericks shot 31% from the field in a 96-85 loss at Chicago on Thursday night, prompting Johnson to say that there had been only “a handful of games” during his 19-year NBA career when his team played so poorly.

New Orleans 94, Utah 83 -- Already playing without forward Andrei Kirilenko (sprained right ankle), the Jazz lost leading scorer Carlos Boozer to a bruised left knee in the first quarter at Oklahoma City. The Hornets have won their last five home games.

Boozer knocked knees with the Hornets’ Tyson Chandler as Chandler went up to catch a lob with 8:11 left in the first quarter and did not return.

Chicago 100, Miami 97 -- The Bulls won their third in a row despite losing center Ben Wallace to a left knee sprain with 5:01 left at Chicago. He finished with 15 rebounds. Ben Gordon scored 34 points to lead the Bulls.

Miami center Shaquille O’Neal watched as the Heat lost for the fifth time in six games. He had played in two games after sitting out 35 because of knee surgery.

Philadelphia 104, Atlanta 89 -- Andre Miller scored six consecutive points to spark a 10-0 fourth-quarter run after the Hawks pulled to within two points, and the 76ers never trailed at Atlanta. Miller also scored the final basket of a 10-0 run that gave Philadelphia an 87-75 lead with 7:17 to play.

Indiana 102, Toronto 84 -- The Pacers began to pull away late in the third quarter at Indianapolis. Jermaine O’Neal and Darrell Armstrong each made two free throws to end the period, giving the Pacers a 69-61 lead.

Indiana pushed its lead to 81-66 on consecutive three-point baskets by Armstrong and Mike Dunleavy with eight minutes left in the fourth quarter.

Portland 135, Memphis 132 -- Zach Randolph scored a career-high 42 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Trail Blazers rallied to win in double overtime at Memphis, Tenn.

Randolph, who made 16 of 40 shots, scored 13 points in the overtimes and Portland came back from a 16-point deficit early in the second half. His three-point basket with 38 seconds left clinched the victory.

New Jersey 112, Denver 102 -- Vince Carter scored 40 points to help the Nets end a three-game losing streak. All of their three losses on their five-game, 10-day Western trip had come by one point, tying an NBA record.

Golden State 131, Charlotte 105 -- Season-high quarters of 40 in the first and 38 in the third helped give the Warriors the easy victory at Oakland. The Bobcats, who have lost three in a row in Oakland, fell behind, 21-2, just over five minutes into the game.
