* at Texas 2, Baltimore 1: Kenny Lofton hit a tiebreaking home run, and Kevin Millwood won for the fourth time in five starts. Lofton, the 40-year-old center fielder who sat out three games because of a sore left knee, was two for two with two walks and scored both Rangers runs.

* at Detroit 6, Boston 5: Gary Sheffield hit one of Detroit’s three homers against Daisuke Matsuzaka, and the Tigers completed a three-game sweep. Carlos Guillen and Marcus Thames also homered against Matsuzaka, who gave up three homers for the first time in the majors. The Red Sox put runners on first and third in the ninth against Todd Jones but J.D. Drew fouled out to end the game.

* at Kansas City 12, Tampa Bay 4: Tony Pena Jr. drove in four runs, and Jorge De La Rosa won his third consecutive start. Pena had three doubles to help send Tampa Bay to its 13th loss in 14 games. The Devil Rays finished their trip with a 1-9 record, the worst three-city trip in franchise history.

* at Chicago 6, Minnesota 3: Rob Mackowiak, Jim Thome and Paul Konerko homered during a five-run third inning to help Javier Vazquez win his third straight start. Vazquez (6-5) gave up eight hits over eight innings, including Justin Morneau’s 24th homer, for his second straight complete game and 22nd in his career.

* at Toronto 1, Cleveland 0: Alex Rios hit a run-scoring single in the ninth inning to lift the Blue Jays. Reed Johnson hit a one-out double in the ninth, chasing Cleveland starter Paul Byrd. Rafael Betancourt came on to face Rios. Blue Jays starter Josh Towers retired the first 17 batters he faced before Josh Barfield singled to left in the sixth. Towers struck out four and walked none over eight-plus innings.

* Seattle 7, at Oakland 3: Mariners outfielder Jason Ellison started a four-run rally and then touched off a benches-clearing shoving match.

* at New York 12, Angels 0: Alex Rodriguez, Hideki Matsui and Robinson Cano hit three-run homers for the Yankees.
