Sunday stage: The first stage took riders along a 126-mile flat course for sprinters starting in London and winding through the capital’s leafy suburbs to finish in Canterbury.

* Winner: Australian sprinter Robbie McEwen of Predictor-Lotto in 4 hours 39 minutes 1 second.

* Yellow jersey: Fabian Cancellara, winner of Saturday’s prologue, retains it. Andreas Kloeden, a German rider for the Astana team, is second overall. British cyclist David Millar is third.
