The westbound San Bernardino Freeway was closed in Monterey Park for about three hours Monday after a man fell to his death from the overpass of the Long Beach Freeway, authorities said.

All lanes were reopened by about 9:30 a.m., but traffic was backed up for about 10 miles beyond the 605 Freeway, California Highway Patrol Officer Francisco Villalobos said.

Traffic was diverted to the Long Beach Freeway.

The CHP received a report of a man on the Long Beach Freeway overpass about 6:15 a.m. He fell a few minutes later.

Officials had not determined whether it was an accident or suicide, Villalobos said.
