* at Boston 10, Chicago 3: Josh Beckett tied C.C. Sabathia of the Indians for the major league lead with his 13th victory. Coco Crisp’s three-run triple in the fifth inning gave the Red Sox a 4-3 lead and Julio Lugo hit a grand slam in the eighth, driving in the last of the 10 runs yielded by starter Jose Contreras.
* Cleveland 3, at Texas 2: Fausto Carmona yielded three hits over eight shutout innings to win his fourth consecutive start. Texas center fielder Kenny Lofton left the game in the third inning after fouling a ball off his right big toe. The 40-year-old was hobbling as he was helped off the field, but X-rays were negative and the Rangers said he was day to day.
* Kansas City 10, at Detroit 2: The Royals are 23-18 since June 1 after posting 22 consecutive losing months. Gil Meche improved to 4-0 in his last seven starts, giving up two runs and five hits in seven innings.
* Seattle 4, at Toronto 2: The Blue Jays finished one for 11 with runners in scoring position and are batting .128 (six for 47) in such situations over the last five games. Adrian Beltre hit a two-run homer for the Mariners.
* Baltimore 6, at Oakland 1: Erik Bedard (9-4), who carried a no-hit bid into the sixth inning before Mark Ellis homered with two out, won his fifth consecutive decision. He struck out 11 to increase his major league-leading total to 167.
* Tampa Bay 14, at New York 4: Former Dodger Dioner Navarro hit his first career grand slam to lead the Devil Rays.
* at Minnesota 7, Angels 5: John Lackey (12-6) lost for the first time in nearly a month. He yielded 10 hits and seven runs -- five earned -- in five innings.
