* at Washington 3, Colorado 0: Austin Kearns hit a three-run homer in the eighth inning, and four pitchers, including reliever Jon Rauch (5-2), combined on a second consecutive shutout. The Nationals won three of the four games in the series.

* Arizona 3, at Chicago 0: Yusmeiro Petit (2-2) pitched six scoreless innings, Chris Snyder homered and the Diamondbacks won a road series for the first time in more than a month. Derrek Lee served the final game of a five-game suspension for the Cubs, who lost their first series at home since June 15-17, against San Diego.

* at Florida 9, Cincinnati 3: Dan Uggla broke a seventh-inning tie with a two-run homer. Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez partially dislocated his left shoulder on a swing in the first inning and is listed as day to day. The Marlins outscored the Reds, 30-6, in the last three games of the four-game series.

* at Milwaukee 7, San Francisco 5: Ryan Braun and Corey Hart hit first-inning home runs against Barry Zito (7-10), and the Brewers averted a three-game sweep. Barry Bonds did not play for the Giants.

* St. Louis 7, at Atlanta 2: Skip Schumaker hit a two-run home run and Scott Rolen hit a three-run drive in the 10th inning to lift the Cardinals, who had tied the score, 2-2, in the eighth when Albert Pujols hit his 22nd home run.

* Philadelphia 9, at San Diego 0: Ryan Howard drove in two runs and J.D. Durbin (2-2), making his fourth major league start, pitched his first shutout. The Phillies outscored the Padres, 28-7, during the three-game series.

* Houston 1, at Pittsburgh 0: Woody Williams (5-11) threw eight shutout innings, and the Astros made several outstanding plays to back him up.

* New York 5, at Dodgers 4: Chip Ambres singled home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning, and the Mets won three of the four games in the series between division leaders.
