Update -- Chivas’ coach is going back home tonight. Preki is at the site where he won Major League Soccer MVP honors in 1997 and 2003 and captured the MLS Cup as a player in 2000. But last Sunday, before his team departed for a two-game trip, the coach had other things on his mind. Chivas had only one road game before Thursday’s 2-0 win in New York. The normally stone-faced Preki couldn’t help but laugh when he was asked what getting six points out of this trip would mean to the team. “That would put us in a spot that would allow us to compete for the top two spots in our division,” Preki said. “Never mind the playoffs, that would put us in a really good position.” Chivas is three points behind Dallas and seven behind first-place Houston in the Western Conference.
