A fine line

* The Ducks used versatile veterans Brad May and Todd Marchant on their top line with Andy McDonald and Teemu Selanne and the line had its most productive game of the finals. McDonald had two goals and an assist, while Selanne picked up an assist on Dustin Penner’s goal in the third period.

MIA

* After a strong effort in Game 3, Ottawa’s line of Chris Neil, Chris Kelly and Antoine Vermette had a rough night on Monday with the trio combining for a minus-six rating. Not only did they struggle defensively, but Neil also picked up two ill-advised penalties.

Save of the game

* Jean-Sebastien Giguere made several impressive stops, but Ottawa’s Ray Emery had the biggest save late in the second period. With the Ducks leading, 2-1, Francois Beauchemin fired a hard shot from the right circle that Emery caught just under the crossbar to keep the Senators in the hunt.

Turning point

* The Ducks had a total team effort on Penner’s game-winning goal in the third period when defenseman Ric Jackman beat Kelly for the puck in the Ducks’ zone and the puck ended up on Selanne’s stick along the sideboards. Selanne then worked with Penner against Ottawa defenseman Anton Volchenkov, who could not make a play and left Penner alone in the slot. With Emery out of position, Penner knocked in Selanne’s set-up pass to give the Ducks a 3-2 lead.

Three stars

* 1. Andy McDonald, Ducks forward: In a span of 60 seconds in the second period, McDonald scored two highlight goals on Emery and added a third-period assist.

* 2. Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Ducks goaltender: Giguere’s strong play in the first period kept the Ducks in the game and he finished strong by not giving up a goal in the third period.

* 3. Francois Beauchemin, Ducks defenseman: With Chris Pronger suspended, Beauchemin played 31 shifts and was on the ice for 31 minutes, 40 seconds, and finished with a plus-two rating for the game.
