Firefighters battle small blazes on three fronts
Firefighters jumped on three small blazes across the county Wednesday as dry and gusty weather raised fire danger in the parched region.
One fire burned brush in the Sunland-Tujunga area of the northeastern San Fernando Valley before it was extinguished after about 50 minutes, said city Fire Department spokeswoman d’Lisa Davies.
Another fire burned three acres and threatened structures in Santa Clarita before it was put out, said county Fire Inspector Sam Padilla. And a small grass fire burned briefly near the Bel Air Presbyterian Church in the Sepulveda Pass.
Forecasters issued “red flag” warnings for fire danger in much of Southern California due to very low humidity and gusty winds.
