From Staff and Wire Reports

Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam “Pacman” Jones will face two felony charges in a strip club melee that preceded a triple shooting in February, Las Vegas police and the Clark County District Attorney’s office said Wednesday.

Two others previously identified by police as friends of Jones also will face felony charges in the fracas inside the Minxx club, police said in a statement.

No one is named in the shooting that occurred later outside the club and left a bar employee paralyzed, police Capt. James Dillon said.

Warrants were issued for the arrests of Jones, Robert Reid of Carson and Sadia Morrison of New York, Dillon said.

A Las Vegas lawyer representing the three was expected to arrange their surrender, an aide to Clark County District Attorney David Roger said.

Golden State Warriors forward Stephen Jackson pleaded guilty in Indianapolis to a felony count of criminal recklessness for firing a gun outside a strip club in October and was sentenced to one year of probation, ordered to pay a $5,000 fine and perform 100 hours of community service.

Tennis player Guillermo Coria settled his lawsuit in New Brunswick. N.J., against Universal Nutrition, a vitamin maker he blamed for a positive steroid test that cost him millions in earnings.

NHL announces salary-cap increase

Pending an agreement with the players’ union, the NHL salary cap will increase from $44 million to between $48 and $50 million next season, the league’s board of governors decided.

Commissioner Gary Bettman also made clear his view on the potential sale and possible relocation of the Nashville Predators.

Without a binding agreement between owner Craig Leipold and Canadian billionaire Jim Balsillie, Bettman said talk of the team relocating to Canada is premature.

The Predators’ arena lease doesn’t expire until 2008.

In other news, the board voted to award a player a free shot if he is fouled on a clear breakaway anywhere in the neutral or attacking zones.

Previously, a penalty shot was awarded only when a player on a clear breakaway was fouled on the attacking side of the center line.

In other moves, all faceoffs must now be conducted at one of the nine dots painted on the rink and the term “gross misconduct” was eliminated from the rule book. A game misconduct will now be assessed, and accumulated game misconduct penalties can lead to fines or suspensions.
