No. 3 OREGON vs. No. 11 WINTHROP

* at Spokane, Wash. -- Winthrop has exactly the kind of quick, athletic group that could give Oregon fits, and it led Notre Dame by as many as 20 points on the way to a 74-64 victory in the first round. The Ducks had to hold on for a 58-56 victory over Miami of Ohio after losing most of a late double-digit lead.

No. 1 FLORIDA vs. No. 9 PURDUE

* at New Orleans -- Against the taller and more athletic defending NCAA champions, undersized Purdue probably needs to make it a grinding game to have a chance. The key players for Purdue are 6-7 forward Carl Landry and guard David Teague, both of whom sat out most of last season because of knee injuries.

No. 2 WISCONSIN vs. No. 7 NEVADA LAS VEGAS

* at Chicago -- Nevada Las Vegas is trying to return to the Sweet 16 for the first time since the heyday of coach Jerry Tarkanian in 1991, and Wisconsin looks like the most vulnerable of the No. 2-seeded teams. The Badgers fell behind Texas A&M; Corpus Christi by 18 points before coming back to win by 13. Nevada Las Vegas didn’t have to scramble as much when it played Corpus Christi in December and won by 10, although the Runnin’ Rebels’ lead was only three with four minutes left.
