* at Virginia 17, No. 21 Wake Forest 16: Mikell Simpson ran one yard for a touchdown with 2:18 to play and the Cavaliers (8-2, 5-1) beat the Demon Deacons (6-3, 4-2) at Charlottesville for their third one-point victory in four games. “For some reason, we click at the end,” tight end Tom Santi said. “We’ve got the confidence that we’ve done it before, so when we get in those situations, nobody’s panicked. We can all say, ‘We’ve been here before. We can do this.’ ” Wake Forest drove to Virginia’s 30 in the closing seconds, but Sam Swank’s 47-yard field-goal attempt with two seconds left missed. He had made 13 of 14 field goals before missing his last two against Virginia.
* No. 25 Clemson 47, Duke 10: Cullen Harper threw two touchdowns and ran for another, and the Tigers (7-2, 4-2) scored 16 points in a 39-second span in a rout over the Blue Devils (1-8, 0-6) at Durham, N.C. C.J. Spiller returned a kickoff 84 yards for a touchdown, James Davis had a career-long 70-yard scoring run, Aaron Kelly caught touchdown passes covering 19 and five yards and Harper threw for two scores and set a school record with his ACC-leading 23rd touchdown pass. Duke has lost 23 ACC games in a row.
* North Carolina State 19, at Miami 16 (OT): Steven Hauschka’s fourth field goal, a 42-yarder in overtime, lifted the surging Wolfpack (4-5, 2-3) over the Hurricanes (5-4, 2-3). Hauschka made three field goals in the fourth quarter as N.C. State overcame a 13-7 deficit to win its third straight game.
* at North Carolina 16, Maryland 13: Connor Barth kicked three field goals, T.J. Yates threw a touchdown pass to Hakeem Nicks and the Tar Heels (3-6, 2-3) beat the Terrapins (4-5, 1-4) at Chapel Hill to end a two-game losing streak. It was Maryland’s first win over North Carolina since 2000.
