Boise State routs New Mexico State
Taylor Tharp threw a career-high four touchdown passes and Ian Johnson had 158 total yards and a touchdown to help Boise State roll to a 58-0 victory over New Mexico State on Sunday night at Boise, Idaho.
All four of Tharp’s touchdowns came in the first half as the Broncos, 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Western Athletic Conference, scored on five of their first six drives, building a 35-0 lead at the half.
New Mexico State is 3-3 and 0-1.
Backup quarterback Tyler Graunke replaced an injured Colt Brennan and provided Hawaii the spark it needed. Graunke threw for three touchdown passes in the third quarter and ran for another score as Hawaii defeated Utah State, 52-37, on Saturday night in Honolulu.
The victory gave the Warriors (6-0, 3-0 Western Athletic Conference) a school-record 10 straight conference wins and their best start since the 1981 team opened 7-0. Utah State is 0-6 and 0-2.
Brennan walked off the field under his own power after taking a hard hit with 52 seconds left in the first half.
