* at Fresno State 30, San Jose State 0: Ryan Mathews had a 58-yard touchdown run while rushing for 144 yards and two scores, and the surging Bulldogs (5-2, 4-0) routed the Spartans (3-5, 2-2) in a Western Athletic Conference game. Tom Brandstater passed for 132 yards and Clint Stitser kicked three field goals for Fresno State.

* Boise State 45, at Louisiana Tech 31: Taylor Tharp threw five touchdowns passes -- one of them for 83 yards -- and the Broncos (6-1, 3-0) defeated the Bulldogs (2-5, 1-3) in a WAC game at Ruston. Boise finished with 465 yards in total offense.

* Nevada 31, at Utah State 28: Luke Lippincott rushed for 241 yards and two touchdowns to help the Wolf Pack (3-4, 1-2) hold on to beat the Aggies (0-7, 0-3) in a WAC game at Logan. Colin Kaepernick put Nevada ahead for good with a 32-yard touchdown pass to Mike McCoy with 3:47 left.

* at New Mexico State 45, Idaho 31: Chase Holbrook, returning from a two-game absence, threw for 404 yards and three touchdowns, and Tony Glynn ran for two scores, leading the Aggies (4-4, 1-2) over the Vandals (1-7, 0-4) in a WAC game at Las Cruces.

* at Air Force 20, Wyoming 12: Shaun Carney threw two touchdown passes and Bobby Giannini returned a fumble 85 yards for a score early in the fourth quarter to lead the Falcons (6-2, 5-1) over the Cowboys (4-3, 1-2) in a Mountain West Conference game at Air Force Academy, Colo.

* New Mexico 20, at San Diego State 17: Rodney Ferguson’s six-yard touchdown run with 15 seconds left lifted the Lobos (5-2, 2-1) over the Aztecs (2-5, 1-2) in a Mountain West game.

* Colorado State 48, at Nevada Las Vegas 23: Gartrell Johnson rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns, and the Rams (1-6, 1-3) ended a 13-game losing streak with a win over the Rebels (2-6, 1-3) in a WAC game.

* at Brigham Young 42, Eastern Washington 7: Harvey Unga rushed for 145 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead the Cougars (5-2) over the Eagles (4-3) at Provo, Utah. BYU gained 377 yards of total offense.

* at South Dakota State 48, Cal Poly SLO 35: Cory Koenig rushed for 259 yards and four touchdowns as the Jackrabbits (3-4, 1-0) beat the Mustangs (4-3, 1-1) in a Great West Conference game at Brookings. Koenig ran 21 times and scored on runs of 32, 46, 52 and 11 yards. Cal Poly was ranked No. 20 in the Championship Subdivision poll.

* at San Diego 62, Jacksonville 23: Josh Johnson threw for five touchdowns and ran for another to lead the Toreros (7-0, 4-0) over the Dolphins (2-5, 1-3) in a Pioneer League game for their 23rd consecutive home victory.

* at Azusa Pacific 38, Whitworth 34: Jon Davis caught a 43-yard touchdown pass from Rudy Carlton with 4:39 left as the Cougars (4-5) beat the Pirates (5-2). Carlton finished 22 of 34 for 352 yards and five touchdowns passes.

* Redlands 49, at Claremont-Mudd 21: Dan Selway completed 17 of 28 passes for 200 yards and three touchdowns as the Bulldogs (5-1, 2-1) stormed to a 35-7 halftime lead and rolled to a rout of the Stags (1-5, 0-3) in a SCIAC game. Kyle Godfrey caught an 18-yard touchdown pass from Selway and also returned a punt 59 yards for another score.

* Occidental 31, at Pomona-Pitzer 15: Justin Goltz completed 25 of 38 passes for 271 yards for the Tigers (6-0, 4-0), who knocked off the Sagehens (2-4, 1-3) in a SCIAC game and extended their regular-season win streak to 32 games. Occidental used a 24-0 second half to erase a 15-7 halftime deficit, taking the lead for good on Neil Martin’s 24-yard field with 2:01 left in the third quarter.

* Whittier 31, at La Verne 28: Josh Scurlock scored on a one-yard run with 10:09 left and the Poets (3-3, 2-1) held on to defeat the Leopards (0-6, 0-4) in a SCIAC game. Scurlock also completed 15 of 32 passes for 220 yards and threw three touchdown passes. La Verne quarterback Troy Doolittle completed 34 of 51 passes for 419 yards and four touchdown passes.
