Oregon St. loses lineman
The personnel problems keep adding up at Oregon State, where starting left tackle Tavita Thompson was ruled ineligible Wednesday by the NCAA for the rest of the season.
Coach Mike Riley said he will work to get the junior reinstated for the 2008 season but declined to disclose the reason for Thompson’s ineligibility, citing student privacy laws.
Oregon State has already lost All-American left guard Jeremy Perry to a broken leg. Right guard Roy Schuening (walking pneumonia) and right tackle Andy Levitre (leg) may not be available for Saturday’s game against Stanford.
Stanford running back Jason Evans, playing for injured starter Anthony Kimble, will miss the rest of the season because of a torn knee ligament suffered Saturday at Arizona. Redshirt freshman Tyrone McGraw is expected to replace him.
