Heat gets Davis in a deal for Walker

The Miami Heat finally may have gotten the third scoring option it wanted.

In doing so, the Heat ended Antoine Walker’s time in Miami, trading the forward to the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday in a five-player deal.

Walker, 32, center Michael Doleac, 30, oft-injured forward Wayne Simien, 24, and a conditional first-round draft pick before 2011 were sent to Minnesota for swingman Ricky Davis, 28, and center Mark Blount, 31.

Walker averaged career-lows of 8.5 points and 4.3 rebounds last season. Davis, who played seven games with Miami during the 2000-01 season, averaged 17.0 point last year. Blount averaged 12.3 points and 6.2 rebounds.

Seattle SuperSonics rookie forward Kevin Durant will miss the exhibition finale but hoped to be ready for the regular-season opener next week after spraining his left ankle in Tuesday’s loss to Golden State. X-rays were negative.

Dallas Mavericks forward Josh Howard, suspended for the first two regular-season games because of a preseason altercation, sprained his left wrist in the exhibition finale and will be re-evaluated next week.. . .
