CHP to investigate bus that hit, killed mother
The California Highway Patrol plans to conduct an inspection Monday morning of the school bus that struck and killed a mother Friday afternoon as she was holding her toddler and picking up her 8-year-old daughter from school.
Officer Edmund Zorrilla said Saturday that authorities would check the brakes and see if there was a black box, which should reveal how fast the bus was traveling when it struck Andrea Meza.
Meza was crossing a driveway at Cyrus J. Morris Elementary School when she was hit. Her 2-year-old daughter was flung from her arms but was unhurt.
The family plans to hold a vigil at the school Monday evening. To make a donation to the family for burial and funeral expenses, contact Eduardo Meza at (626) 824-2665.
