The senior posted his fourth consecutive 200-plus-yard game to become the school’s single-season rushing leader, but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Green Wave from losing its homecoming game to Memphis, 28-27, at the Louisiana Superdome.

Forte, 6 feet 2 and 223 pounds, carried a school-record 44 times for 278 yards and two touchdowns.

He set the school record for yards rushing in a season, surpassing the 1,421 that current Minnesota Vikings running back Mewelde Moore gained in 2001. Forte finished the game with 1,539 for the season.
