PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks hammered Chris Young again and narrowed the gap in the NL West.
Extending their mastery of San Diego’s All-Star, Tony Clark and Eric Byrnes homered as the Diamondbacks defeated San Diego, 9-1, on Tuesday night to pull within .001 of the West-leading Padres.
No one hits Young (9-6) harder than the Diamondbacks. Three of Young’s six losses have come against Arizona, and he has given up 16 earned runs in 19 2/3 innings, a 7.32 ERA. He is 9-3 with a 1.88 ERA against everyone else.
