* at Oakland 7, Kansas City 1: Jack Hannahan’s two-run double highlighted a five-run fourth inning, Dana Eveland won for the first time in three starts and the Athletics completed a three-game sweep of the Royals.

* at Toronto 5, Detroit 3: David Eckstein hit a three-run homer and A.J. Burnett issued a season-high six walks in five innings but still managed to win. Frank Thomas’ replacement, Rod Barajas, went 0 for 3 and fans chanted “We want Frank” when Barajas was up in the seventh.

* New York 7, at Baltimore 1: Alex Rodriguez hit an RBI double and scored before leaving with a leg injury, and the Yankees ended a three-game losing streak.

* at Minnesota 2, Cleveland 1 (10): After striking out with a runner on second in the eighth inning, Justin Morneau singled home Brendan Harris in the 10th. The Indians have lost 12 of their last 16 after a 2-0 start.

* at Boston 6, Texas 5: Sean Casey’s bases-loaded walk capped a four-run eighth inning for the Red Sox, who won for the eighth time in nine games.
