They see many exciting aspects of Ramirez deal

Manny, be whoever you need to be.

Just don’t be Andruw.

Seeing Ned Colletti land Manny Ramirez reminded me of the scene in “The Bad News Bears” where the little kid in the outfield has the fly ball coming to him. The scared kid, not knowing what to do, closes his eyes and raises his mitt. When he opens his eyes, the ball somehow is lodged in the leather.

As an Angels fan I would like to thank Colletti for removing a major hurdle in the way to the World Series. I may not be a math genius, but I’m pretty sure adding one Teixeira and subtracting one Ramirez from the playoffs equals something good.

Poor Joe Torre. With Andruw Jones and now Manny, this can be considered the best entertainment value in the City. Now all we need to do is bring in Barry Bonds and we’ll have the Bronx Zoo in L.A.!

The true winners in the Ramirez rental are T.J. Simers (endless column material) along with Andruw Jones and Gary Matthews Jr., who, through no fault of their own, will move, at least temporarily, to T.J.’s back burner.

I can’t wait to see what happens when Manny being Manny collides with Jeff Kent being cranky.

After Casey Blake walks away from the Dodgers this winter, whom does Ned Colletti intend to have play third base? Oh yeah, Colletti doesn’t care because it won’t be his problem.

I’m wondering whether Ned Colletti just got a good old player for nothing or a good-for-nothing old player.

This will be the first conversation heard in the Dodgers dugout when Manny Ramirez arrives:

Manny to Andruw Jones: “I don’t want to play today, do you?”

Andruw: “I don’t care.”
