at Chicago 3, St. Louis 2 (11 innings): Henry Blanco singled home the winning run with the bases loaded in the 11th and the Cubs improved to a league-best 44-16 at home, matching their 2007 Wrigley Field win total.
Pittsburgh 2, at Philadelphia 0 (12 innings): Steve Pearce broke up a scoreless game with a run-scoring double in the 12th. With one out, Pearce doubled past third baseman Eric Bruntlett, driving in Ryan Doumit.
at New York 3, Florida 0: David Wright hit a two-run homer in the first inning to help the Mets win consecutive games for the first time since they won three in a row July 23-25.
Houston 9, at Cincinnati 5 (10 innings): With two out in the 10th, Carlos Lee hit a two-run double and Hunter Pence followed with a two-run homer.
at Milwaukee 5, Washington 0: CC Sabathia pitched a five-hitter and has not lost in 12 starts since June 5.
at Colorado 6, San Diego 3: Glendon Rusch, who started the year in the Padres’ bullpen before being released, pitched six solid innings for the Rockies.
Atlanta 11, at Arizona 6: Chipper Jones returned from the disabled list with a home run estimated at 434 feet.
Dodgers 6, at San Francisco 2: Brad Penny won for the first time since May 2.
