Two cars crash and drivers flee
Police were having trouble investigating a crash Thursday morning after officers found two damaged cars, one of them flipped on its roof, but both drivers missing.
Police arrived at 9th Street just east of Knott Avenue about 4 a.m. and found one of the two vehicles upside-down. There was no sign that either driver had been seriously injured, but no one was available to provide details. One witness told police that he saw a man running from the scene.
“They couldn’t be hurt that bad, because they both split,” said Buena Park Police Sgt. Chris Nunez.
“Just speculating, it’s possible it could be a drunk driver involved. They could be unlicensed and felt they could get in trouble.
“It’s fairly common to have an accident and have one driver gone, but to have both drivers run away, that’s unusual,” Nunez added.
